New Delhi. Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is currently going through a tough time on the family front. In October this year, a Delhi court has allowed the divorce of Shikhar, who is out of Team India’s squad in all three formats, from his Australia-based wife Ayesha Mukherjee. In an emotional post on his Instagram account on his son Zoravar’s birthday, Dhawan wrote that he has not been able to meet his son Zoravar in person for the past one year. He (Dhawan) has also been blocked from all virtual platforms through which he can digitally connect with his son.
It is to be noted that Shikhar and Ayesha have officially separated after the ‘seal’ given by the court. Dhawan wrote in his post, ‘It has been a year since I saw you face to face. I’ve been blocked everywhere for almost three months, so I’m posting the same picture to wish you all the best. My son…wish you a very happy birthday. Even though I cannot connect with you directly, I am connecting through telepathy. I am proud of you and know you are doing well and growing up well.

Dhawan further wrote, ‘Papa misses and loves you always. He is always positive and looks forward with a smile to the time when we can meet again by God’s grace. Let us tell you that the Delhi court has approved the divorce of Shikhar and Ayesha in October this year. The court accepted that Dhawan had to go through ‘mental torture’ because of Ayesha. The two got married in the year 2012 and have a son Zoravar. Judge Harish Kumar accepted that Ayesha had forced Dhawan to undergo mental torture by keeping him away from his son for a year. However, the court did not rule on the son’s permanent custody. Ayesha has two daughters from her previous marriage.

As for the 38-year-old Shikhar, he is currently out of all three formats of Team India and the chances of his return to Team India are slim. He played his last international match for the Indian team as an ODI in December 2022. He has played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 matches for India. He has scored 2315 runs at an average of 40.61 in Tests, 6793 runs at an average of 44.11 in ODIs and 1759 runs at an average of 27.92 in T20s. He will be seen playing for Punjab Kings in the 2024 season of IPL.
