A few days before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, Mumbai Indians announced Hardik Pandya as the captain. Hardik Pandya was a part of the Mumbai Indians team from 2015 to 2021, after which he joined the Gujarat Titans team in the 2022 Mega Auction and was made the captain. Under Hardik’s captaincy, Gujarat Titans won the 2022 IPL title and reached the final in the 2023 IPL. In 2023, Hardik was traded by Mumbai Indians to Gujarat Titans. When Hardik became a part of Mumbai Indians, there was a post by Jasprit Bumrah which seemed that he was not too happy with the Mumbai Indians trade. After this, when Hardik was made the captain, Suryakumar Yadav shared his broken heart on social media. Since then there have been constant reports that the three Mumbai Indians players, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are not happy with Hardik being made the captain and the trio could be traded before IPL 2024. Some social media posts have claimed that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are looking to trade Rohit, Bumrah and Surya.

The CEO of Mumbai Indians called it a complete rumor and now a statement has come from CSK too. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz during the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai, ‘We do not trade players as per our principal, and Mumbai Indians We don’t even have players to trade. We have not approached them regarding this and we have no intention of doing so.

Mumbai head coach Mark Boucher has also made this clear Mumbai Indians There are no fights or conflicts of any kind in the camp. Boucher said that the decision to remove Rohit from the captaincy was taken keeping in mind the transition of the team and it was a very emotional decision for the franchise team as well. Mark Boucher said the decision was discussed with several key members of the team, in addition to the leadership group. Rohit has been great for us and has done a lot for the Mumbai Indians franchise team.
