“Election Gandhi”: Ke Kavita’s taunt at Rahul Gandhi, he himself said why he says this

He said, “We are seeing unfortunate statements from many political leaders today. This process of getting votes from certain sections will eventually divide the country in ways we cannot even imagine. For example when some parties say ‘Sanatan’ that they are ‘ talks about ‘religion’ or insults the workers who clean the toilets.

The ‘Sanatana Dharma’ quip was in reference to Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks. The section on “insulting workers” was about a 2019 clip of DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran, in which he was seen making disparaging remarks about people coming south from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for jobs. Tamil Nadu’s ruling party DMK and Congress are both part of Bharat Gatbandhan.

Stalin’s remarks drew comments from several BJP leaders, including former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomai, who called him a “Hitler” and described his “mentality… as filthy as malaria”.

BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kavita said, “These statements should not be taken lightly”, adding, “What if Rahul Gandhi, who talks about ‘Join India’… if he had taken this seriously? Right from the beginning, when ‘Sanatan Dharma ‘ was insulted and millions of people across India were hurt, other statements might not have come out.”

“I call him Election Gandhi because…”

She said, “He is responsible to the people of this country and I call him ‘Election Gandhi’ because he never works except for elections. So I request him, because the Lok Sabha elections are coming. Tell people that you are yours. Not insulting. Activists and people cannot insult many states by standing in Parliament. You should stand up and not just ‘PR’ with ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ but say this is wrong.

The scathing comments came weeks after the defeat of BRS, which has ruled Telangana since 2014. Besides the two parties, the BJP also ran a high-voltage election campaign in the state, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi making several appearances as part of his ‘Mission South’ scheme.

There was a conflict on the issue of alliance

Before the assembly elections, there were fierce allegations and counter-allegations on the issue of alliance between BJP and BRS. It started when the Prime Minister said that KCR had tried to join the National Democratic Alliance in the past. PM Modi said he told the BRS, “We will not betray the people of Telangana.”

Another attempt to reach BJP!

However, now that the BRS is out of power in Telangana, K Kavita’s comments are being seen as another attempt to reach out to the BJP ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections. (from input agencies)
