Jahangir Khan played four Tests for India

New Delhi. Cricket has rarely seen such occasions when three generations of cricketers have played international cricket. The credit goes to Jahangir Khan of Pakistan, his son Majid and grandson Bajid. Interestingly, father Jahangir Khan represented the Indian team in Test cricket before the partition of India, his sons Majid Khan and Bajid Khan played international cricket for Pakistan. The international careers of father Jahangir and grandson Bajid did not last long, but Majid is counted among the greatest batsmen of Pakistan. He also captained the Pakistan team in some matches.
First of all, let’s talk about Jahangir Khan, who played four Test matches for India before Partition. Jahangir, who made his Test debut at Lord’s against England, scored 39 runs at an average of 5.57 in four Tests. During this time his highest score was 13 runs.

Jahangir was not very successful in Test cricket but his record in first class was impressive. He scored 3327 runs at an average of 22.32 in 111 first class matches, including a top score of 133. Jahangir’s family shifted after the partition of India. Gaya and his son Majid and grandson Bajid represented the Pakistan team. Majid played 63 Tests and 23 ODIs for Pakistan while Bazid played one Test and five ODIs.

Majid scored 3931 runs at an average of 38.92 in 106 innings of 63 Tests, during which his highest score was 167 runs. He has eight centuries in Test cricket. Majid Khan was the first player from Asia to score a century by lunch on the first day of a Test. He scored an unbeaten 108 in the first session of the Karachi Test against New Zealand in 1976. Later he was dismissed after making 112 runs. He also scored 786 runs with a century in 23 ODI matches. He was the first batsman from Asia and Pakistan to score a century in ODIs. He scored 109 runs in 93 balls against England in Nottingham with 16 fours and a six. August 1974. He scored this century at a strike rate of over 100 in the opening stages of ODI cricket.
Later Majid’s son Bazid also played for Pakistan. He scored 32 runs (highest score 23 runs) at an average of 16 in his only Test. In five ODIs, he scored 131 runs with a high score of 66 and averaged 26.20. Bazid was considered among the talented batsmen of his time, though he was not very successful in international cricket. However, in 151 first-class matches he scored 7647 runs at an average of 36.41, including a triple century. His unbeaten 300 was his highest score in first-class cricket.
