Glenn Maxwell wrested victory from India’s jaws, Rituraj’s century went in vain

New Delhi. In the third match of the T20 series played in Guwahati against Australia, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team was defeated by 5 wickets. With this, the Australian team registered their first win in the 5-match T20 series. India still leads the series 2-1. Glenn Maxwell scored a storming century to snatch victory from the jaws of India. Batting first, the Indian team scored 222 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Australia won the match in the last over while defending the target.

Australia won the toss and invited India to bat first. This time too his decision proved costly for the team. The second opening batsman Rituraj Gaikwad played an unbeaten innings of 123 runs in this match despite Yashshwi Jaiswal being caught out for a personal score of six runs. He hit 13 fours and seven sixes with a strike rate of 215 off just 57 balls. India lost two wickets for just 24 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan could not even open his account. Suryakumar Yadav, who came to bat at number-4, contributed 39 runs in 29 balls. Tilak Verma scored an unbeaten 31 off 24 balls.

Maxwell too could not lead the team to victory.
Chasing a target of 223 runs, Travis Head 35(18) and Aaron Hardy 16(12) got Australia off to a flying start. Both added 47 runs together. However, after this Australia lost 3 wickets before reaching 67 runs. Josh English was dismissed for 10 runs while Marcus Stoinis could only score 17 runs. Glenn Maxwell stood at one end for a long time. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals from the other end.
