Centurion. The Boxing Day Test between India and South Africa is being played at Centurion. The host team got a big shock on the first day of this match. Skipper Temba Bavuma had to leave the field on the first day of the first Test cricket match against India on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury and is a doubt whether he will continue in the match.

In the first match of the two-match Test series against India, South African team captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. Experienced fast bowler Kagiso Rabada put the Indian team on the back foot by playing panjo. During this match, the host team got a big shock. Bavuma was injured while trying to stop Virat Kohli’s drive on left-arm fast bowler Marco Jensen and had to leave the field in the 20th over.

According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), “Scans have revealed that he has a strain in his left hamstring.” To ensure participation in the match, he has to undergo a daily evaluation process by doctors.

Bavuma went off the field with the help of South Africa’s physio after sustaining the injury while trying to stop the ball in the extra cover area. He was replaced by Dean Elgar as acting captain. Elgar announced his retirement after this series. Bavuma was replaced by Viane Mulder.
