In the bustling streets of Mumbai, where dreams weave a web of ambitions, Utsav Sarkar got his call. A dreamer since childhood, Utsav always wanted to step into the world of acting and writing. However, his journey was not a straight path, but a detour full of passion, courage and unwavering determination. The festival’s acting adventure began in the hallowed hall of the school, where he tasted the thrill of the stage for the first time. As he moved to Bombay for college, his passion for theater intensified, leading him to Prithvi Theater and eventually an MA in Theater Performing Arts from Mumbai University.
But as beautiful as dreams are, they often come with challenges. The challenges for the festival were not struggles but opportunities. Talking about his struggle, Utsav said, “I don’t understand the struggle. I believe that if I am equipped with various talents, I cannot be unemployed. If I don’t act, I will keep writing. And if I’m writing, No, I will be directing, but I know I will never be away from work.”
Sharing his Covid experience, Utsav said, “Like other people, the Covid lockdown was difficult for me, so as soon as the lockdown started, all my work stopped and my brother and mother were taking care of me at that time. So I thought let’s go. A few Quit acting for a while and I joined a production company as a full-time employee and then I got a call for Hostel Days. I didn’t even know if I would clear the audition but I did and it went really well, so I’m grateful. I am.”
