‘I’ll give you $1 billion if you change your name…’ Elon Musk messes with Wikipedia

Washington: Tesla Company and X owner Elon Musk is in the news every day for his tweets and business deals. In this series, he has drawn everyone’s attention by tweeting one more. Indeed, Elon Musk has offered to give one billion dollars to Wikipedia. However, for this he has also put a condition to change the name of Wikipedia. Last Sunday, he said while retweeting one of his old tweets that he would give him a billion dollars if Wikipedia changed its name to Wikipedia.

In an earlier tweet, he also shared a screenshot on which it was written that Wikipedia is not for sale. Elon Musk tweeted this with a sleeping face emoji. Reacting to this tweet, a journalist asked Wikipedia to accept the offer that they could keep their name back after raising money. So Elon Musk said that the new name has to be kept for at least 1 year.

Musk said, ‘Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation needs so much money? It is certainly not necessary to run Wikipedia. Brainy people want to know that you can type literally anything from your phone! So why do you need money? Musk also asked in a post if a cow and colic emoji could be added to his Wikipedia page. This tweet of Elon Musk got more than 1 lakh likes.

Elon Musk is chief of electronic car company Tesla, spacecraft manufacturer SpaceX and also operates the Starlink satellite internet service, infrastructure firm Boring and social media site X. He is also the co-founder of Neuraling, OpenAI and PayPal. Notably, this comes months after we saw an exchange between Musk and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. In recent days, Jimmy Wales criticized Musk for allegedly censoring people critical of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and not allowing free speech.
