The final match of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be played between India and Australia. India entered the final after defeating New Zealand in the semi-final match while Australia defeated South Africa to enter the final. ICC has announced the names of umpires for this match to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After this announcement by ICC, the tension of Team India fans has increased as this match will feature Empire under whose leadership Team India faced defeat in the knockout of the World Cup. In such a situation, apart from the kangaroo team, the Indian team will also be threatened by this umpire.

The ICC has selected Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth as the on-field umpires for Sunday’s match. Richard Kettleborough has previously umpired Team India’s matches in ICC Knockout matches and witnessed Team India’s defeat. Richard Kettleborough umpired the T20 World Cup final in 2014, in which Team India lost to Sri Lanka. Apart from this, he was also the umpire in the 2015 ODI World Cup semi-final match in which India lost to Australia.
India lost to West Indies in the semi-final of the 2016 T20 World Cup and Richard Kettleborough was the umpire in that match. India did well in the 2017 Champions Trophy, but lost to Pakistan in the final, which was also umpired by Richard Kettleborough. Apart from this, India lost to New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 ODI World Cup and Richard Kettleborough also witnessed this defeat.
Not only that, Richard Kettleborough was the TV umpire during the ICC World Test Championship between India and Australia and India lost that match too. However, one good thing is that Richard Kettleborough was also the umpire during India’s league stage matches in World Cup 2023, but this year Team India won.
