IND vs PAK: Virat Kohli was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’, while Gautam Gambhir suffered a setback.

New Delhi. In the Super-4 phase of the Asia Cup 2023, the Indian team faced Pakistan on Monday. The star batsman Virat Kohli managed to score the 47th century of his ODI career by batting brilliantly in this exciting match. Kohli was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his vital contribution to Team India’s victory.

Cricketer Gautam Gambhir, however, does not look too happy ahead of Kohli being adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ in the crucial match against Pakistan. Giving his opinion, he said that the real deserving of this award is left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep Yadav was seen in a different estimation against Pakistan. He destroyed the batting of the green team that came into the field to chase the target of 357 runs. He bowled a total of eight overs in this match for the Blue team. In the meantime, he managed to take maximum five wickets. Yadav’s superb bowling saw the opposition bowled out for 128 in 32 overs (two players were out due to injury).

Gambhir also explained the reason behind selecting Kuldeep Yadav as ‘Player of the Match’. He believes that Pakistani batsmen usually do well against spin bowlers, but the way Kuldeep has done well against the opposition has beaten them to the punch. Which is commendable.

The former cricketer said, ‘When you take five wickets in eight overs, especially against Pakistan whose spinners are playing so well, it’s a game-changing moment. This shows its quality.

He said, ‘I understand. Had it been an Australian, South African or New Zealand team that did not play spin well, the situation would have been different. This shows its (Kuldeep) quality.

Gambhir said, ‘Kuldeep Yadav destroyed the Pakistani batsmen. This bodes well for the Indian team ahead of the World Cup. Now we have two aggressive fast bowlers and Kuldeep in the spin department. These three bowlers can take wickets at any time during the match.
