These days the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is being played in India, which will end on November 19. An important news has come out during the World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may hold IPL auctions abroad this time. Last year, the auction was held in Kochi, Kerala. At the same time, the IPL 2024 auction could be held in the city of dreams, Dubai. The players’ market for the 17th season of IPL is likely to be held in Dubai in December. The BCCI had considered holding the IPL 2023 auction in Istanbul but then finalized Kochi.
According to a Cricbuzz report, BCCI may hold the auction between December 15 and 19. Although it is a weekday, it is more likely to be held on 18th or 19th December. Although no official information has been given to the franchises, there is talk that the IPL auction will be held in Dubai. The Dubai plan may be temporary but all the IPL franchises have been informed about the plan to have Dubai as the auction venue. The trading window is currently open. However, there is no information regarding the swapping of players between the IPL franchises yet.
On the other hand, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) second season auction is likely to be held on December 9. The WPL auction is expected to be held in India. The BCCI is yet to inform the owners about the venue and dates for the WPL auction. The league may be scheduled in February this year. The Indian women’s team has international commitments till mid-January. Will the WPL be held in the same city this time too or will it be decided to be held at different venues? Currently, the teams have not confirmed this. Let us tell you that the first season of WPL was held in Mumbai last year.
