IPL 2024 Auction Live: The player auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19). According to a BCCI press release, a total of 1166 players registered their names for the IPL mini auction, out of which 333 names have been shortlisted. It has 214 Indian and 119 foreign players. There are 116 players who have played international cricket, while 215 players are uncapped. Two players are also from allied countries. A total of 77 players will be picked up in 10 teams through this auction. 30 slots are reserved for foreign players.

The mini IPL auction will be very interesting due to less options for India’s talented players. This is a small auction. After this, there will be a big auction next year, in which the teams for IPL 2025 will be formed. The 333 players are divided into 19 different sets, including batsmen, all-rounders, fast bowlers, spinners, wicketkeepers and a subset of capped and uncapped players.
23 players have kept themselves in the maximum base price set at Rs 2 crore, with Australia’s Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur being the main names. While 13 players have kept their base price at Rs 1.5 crore. England’s Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jofra Archer are not included in the auction this time. While the names of Kedar Jadhav, Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan are also not included in the auction list.
Millions of rupees will be bid on these players
Australia’s Mitchell Starc’s name is in much discussion. It may break all records in this auction. Fast bowler Starc is making a comeback in the IPL after eight years and most franchises will be eyeing him. Rising superstar Rachin Ravindra of this year’s World Cup has a base price of Rs 50 lakh, but bids for him could be several times higher. The names of Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel and Shahrukh Khan from India can be included in this list. Arshin Kulkarni, Kumar Kushagra, Mushir Khan, Sameer Rizvi and some other young uncapped faces could be in this auction.
