Buttler and Co won 3 matches in the World Cup
Reigning champions England out of the World Cup
New Delhi. The current champions England’s team did not perform well in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The team captained by Jos Buttler could not even make it to the semi-finals. Captain Buttler’s bat was also quiet in 9 matches. However, England beat Pakistan by 93 runs to end their campaign and bow out of the World Cup. Within 12 hours of the win over Pakistan, England Cricket announced its ODI and T20 squads for the upcoming West Indies tour (ENG vs WI). Buttler’s captaincy remains intact despite a disappointing performance in the World Cup.
England are scheduled to play a series of ODIs and T20Is on their tour of the West Indies. The series will start with ODI matches. The first ODI will be played in Antigua on December 3. Six players from the World Cup squad have made it to the white-ball cricket format, including Buttler. 9 players have been shown the door. Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Braden Carrs, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone are among the six players selected from the World Cup squad for the West Indies tour.
