Let us tell you that this incident happened after the drinks break of the Indian innings. The security personnel immediately nabbed the man. “An Australian national, identified as Wayne Johnson, has been detained on charges of tampering and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of his duty,” said Inspector Viraj Jadeja of Chandkheda police station. Let us tell you that no political slogans are allowed during the programs organized by ICC and no such act is allowed in India either.
Viraj Jadeja said, “Johnson told us that he was a fan of Virat Kohli and wanted to meet him during the match. That’s why he wore a pro-Palestine T-shirt. Otherwise his main objective was to meet Kohli.” In some videos and pictures shared on his Instagram handle ‘Pyjamaman’, Johnson can be seen entering the field during a football match and being escorted off the field by security personnel. In one such photo, Johnson can be seen wearing a “Free Ukraine” T-shirt as he storms onto the pitch.
When asked about his motive, Johnson told reporters at the police station that he wanted to meet Kohli and that he was wearing the T-shirt because he supported Palestine. The war between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas has been going on since October 7.
