Kohli broke a huge record with a short innings and surpassed two captains together.

New Delhi. The Indian cricket team got off to a poor start in the two-match Test series against South Africa. The top batsmen, including captain Rohit Sharma, failed to score big on the first day of the Boxing Day Test. KL Rahul’s half-century pulled India out of trouble. Virat Kohli led the team but he too could not score big. The veteran player played a short innings but in the process he left behind two captains.

The Boxing Day Test match between India and South Africa was much awaited. A day before the start of the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that he wants to achieve a success that no Indian captain has achieved before. The South African bowlers wreaked havoc on the Indian team after losing the toss and came into bat, and all claims were put to rest in the first innings batting. With the help of KL Rahul’s unbeaten 70, India scored 208 for 8 at the end of the day’s play.

Kohli made a big record with a small innings

Virat Kohli, along with Shreyas Iyer, took charge of Team India after three early shocks against South Africa. After losing 3 wickets at the score of 24 runs, India scored 92 runs without loss till lunch. In the second session, first Shreyas Iyer and then Virat Kohli were dismissed. During his 38-run innings, the veteran surpassed former captain and current coach Rahul Dravid in runs scored against South Africa.

Virat Kohli had scored 1236 runs before this match and was 13 runs behind Dravid. King Kohli surpassed the coach as soon as he crossed the mark of 1252 runs against South Africa. After his innings of 38 runs, Virat’s score reached 1274 runs in the Test against South Africa.

Virat Kohli No. 1 Indian in WTC

This series against South Africa is being played like a World Test Championship. During his 38-run innings, Virat Kohli scored 2101 runs at the WTC and surpassed captain Rohit Sharma in the run-getter. The hit man has scored 2097 runs in the World Test Championship.
