Life on Earth will become harder, temperatures will rise by 3 degrees – a scary claim in a UN report

New Delhi: Global warming and climate change are becoming a threat to the entire world. New challenges are emerging every day. In this sequence, a report claims that the world will warm by 3 degrees Celsius by the end of this century. The report released by the United Nations on Monday said that in just 86 days since the beginning of this year, the temperature of the earth has exceeded 1.5 degrees Celsius. However, the reason behind it is said to be excessive global greenhouse gas emissions.

The United Nations released its annual report on the Environment Programme. According to the report, in the year 2022, all the countries of the world together emitted 57.4 billion tons of carbon dioxide, which is 1.2 percent more than in 2021. The report has expressed concern that in the year 2020, the gas emissions have decreased due to the corona epidemic. But in the year 2021 and again in 2022, the excess consumption of greenhouse gases has crossed the dangerous level again.

China and the US are among the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. The report says that reducing global gas emissions is essential to protect the environment. Gas emissions must be reduced by at least 8.7 percent every year from 2024.

The UN Environment Programme’s Emissions Gap Report 2023, titled “Broken Record”, calls on countries to cut emissions by 28 percent to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius and meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius target. 42 percent need to be reduced.

The report, released ahead of the 28th session of the annual United Nations Climate Conference, or COP28, in Dubai said that global emissions of carbon dioxide are set to increase by 1.2 percent in 2021-2022. The world is already experiencing heat waves, floods, fires, cyclones and droughts, with only 1.1 degrees of global warming.
