Anjali Singh Rajput/Lucknow: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member Indian squad for the Under-19 Asia Cup 2023. Lucknow resident Naman Tiwari has also been selected in this team. The captaincy of this team has been entrusted to the star player of Punjab, Uday Saharan. The tournament is being organized in Dubai. It will start from 8th December while the final will be played on 17th December. Lucknow’s rising star Naman Tiwari has been included in the squad.
In an exclusive conversation with Local 18, Naman said that representing India has been his dream since childhood. Participating in this would prove to be the turning point of his career, as his future cricket would take a new turn from here. Said preparations are complete and aim is to win. He said that my dream is to become India’s fastest bowler and I want to be among the best fast bowlers in the world.
Know about Naman Tiwari
Left-arm fast bowler Naman Tiwari has made a name for himself as a net bowler for Rajasthan Royals in the last two seasons. During this time, he impressed people with his bowling. He got a chance to bowl with fast bowlers like Trent Boult and Navdeep Saini. The left-arm bowler proved his mettle in the 2021-22 Cooch Behar Trophy and 2022 Vinu Mankad Trophy. Naman Tiwari is a resident of Lucknow. Joined Lucknow Cricket Academy at the age of 12. Naman is also fond of batting.
It’s been a journey so far
Naman has played U-16 cricket for UP and has been part of the state U-19 team for two consecutive years. Naman has been a part of the India Under-19 prospect camps for the 2021-22 season and the 2022-23 season. He has also been a successful bowler in the 2021-22 Cooch Behar Trophy and 2022 Vinu Mankad Trophy. Besides being a contractor, Naman’s father is an agent in an insurance company, while his mother is a homemaker.
