This will be the first time in the history of Indian Premier League i.e. IPL that a woman will be seen conducting the auction. BCCI has selected a female auctioneer for the IPL 2024 auction, the special thing is that this lady is Indian. The BCCI has partnered with Mallika Sagar, who has successfully conducted the auction of the last two seasons of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Meanwhile, IPL auctioneer Richard Medley has wished and blessed Mallika Sagar.

Richard Medley, who organized the player auction of the tournament in the first season of IPL i.e. from 2008 to 2018, has congratulated Mallika Sagar while posting the former. He wrote in his post, “All the best Mallika Sagar to you all as you prepare for the IPL 2024 auction. It is an absolute honor to be invited to host the world’s highest profile auction and I wish you all the best. I will always cherish the memories. .”

Mallika Sagar has been working in this business for many years and apart from WPL she has also organized auctions of Pro Kabaddi League. Recently, when they held an auction for the second season of the WPL, the BCCI seemed happy with it and told Hugh Adams that his services would not be sought in future. Hughes was Adams’ auctioneer in the 2019 season of IPL. During the 2022 season, he collapsed on stage while doing an auction. After this, India’s Charu Sharma took over the auction, but the next day Hughes Edmeads returned to take the hammer.
