There is a good news for those who love Pakistani series and actors. A petition filed by a cinematographer seeking a ban on Pakistani actors was heard in the Bombay High Court on October 17. The petitioner asked Indian celebs to refrain from working with Pakistani actors, be they actors, directors or music artists. A landmark game-changing decision has been announced by a Bombay High Court judge that will allow talented actors like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan and other stars and actors to work in Indian films and web series.
The Bombay High Court has refused to ban Pakistani artists from India
In the petition, the cinema activist sought a ban on visas and a ban on working with Pakistani actors. A bench of Justice Sunil B Shukre and Justice Firdous P Pooniwala dismissed the plea saying “it is a good step to promote cultural harmony, unity and peace”. They felt that the petition had no merit and found that the Government of India had taken a positive step to promote international peace and security. Live Law quoted the court as saying that if such a plea is considered by law, it will undermine the new positive steps taken by the government. After years Pakistani cricketers came to play cricket on Indian soil as ICC World Cup is being held in India.
As reported by News 18, the court said in its ruling that “activities that promote peace, harmony and peace, including art, music, sports, culture and dance, transcend national boundaries and contribute to promoting unity and harmony among nations.” “
Why Pakistani actors were banned in India?
In 2016, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) proposed not to work with Pakistani actors after the Uri attack. At the 87th Annual General Meeting, the IMPPA president said that after the attack, the members have come to the conclusion that no producer will work with Pakistani actors in future. It received mixed response from netizens and Pakistani actors.
