ISRAM CARD: In the last few years, the Narendra Modi government at the Center has launched several schemes for unorganized workers. In this category, the government launched the e-labor portal. Accident insurance is also available to unorganized workers registered on this portal. If a worker is registered on this portal and meets with an accident, in case of death or permanent physical disability Rs. 2 lakh and in case of partial physical disability Rs. 1 lakh will be eligible.
What was the purpose of the launch?
Let us tell you that the central government launched the e-labor portal on 26 August 2021. It aims to create a national data base for unorganized workers. A total of 69.26 lakh unorganized workers have been registered on the e-labor portal from January 2023 to November 2023. At the same time, as on December 17, 2023, more than 29.23 crore unorganized workers are registered on the e-Shram portal. The e-Shram portal is also integrated with NCS, SID portal, PM-SYM, MyScheme and Disha portal.
Special features of the portal
Enrollment in the portal is linked to Aadhaar. Any unorganized worker can register himself on the portal on self-declaration basis. In e-Shram there is a provision to get family details of migrant workers. E-Shram has been integrated with the National Career Service (NCS) portal. An unorganized worker can register on NCS using his Universal Account Number (UAN) and search for job opportunities. The link for this will also be available on the e-Shram portal.
Pension Scheme: E-Shram has also been integrated with Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Mandhan (PM-SYM). PM-SYM is a pension scheme for unorganized workers whose age is between 18-40 years. Any unorganized worker can easily register on Mandhan portal using UAN (e-Labour) number.
