This is the second visit of the President to Odisha in a week. Earlier, he had spent three days from November 20 in his home districts of Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur. As per the President’s programme, Murmu will participate in the ‘Boita Bandhana’ (Boat Puja) ceremony. Every year ‘Boita Bandana’ is celebrated in Odisha to commemorate the state’s ancient glorious maritime history. He will be the first President to visit the Paradip Port after its construction.

Murmu will digitally inaugurate a multi-modal logistics park and also lay the foundation stone of a new reservoir and water treatment plant and a next-generation ship traffic management and information system for the port township. During a visit to Paradip, Murmu can also interact with members of the fishing community. There is excitement in the Paradip Port township where the President will be welcomed on Monday.

A senior port official said that traditionally the Chief Minister attends the Port Day as the chief guest. He said that in the absence of the Chief Minister, the Port Chairman sometimes also plays this role. However, this year the presence of President Draupadi Murmu has broken the tradition, he said. On November 27, Murmu will leave Raj Bhavan at 8.30 am and reach the helipad near Gopabandhu Stadium in Paradip at 9.30 am. He will address the public, meet local fishermen and have lunch at Paradip Port Guest House. It will take off from Paradip at 3.50 PM and reach Bhubaneswar Airport at 4.30 PM and depart for Delhi at 4.40 PM.
