Stock Market News: Although Saturday is a weekly holiday in the stock market, trading will take place on this day in January 2024. In fact, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is going to host 2 special live sessions to switch over to the Disaster Recovery (DR) site. The first session will start at 9:15 am and end at 10:00 am while the second session will start at 11:30 am and end at 12:30 pm. This live session will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
What is its purpose?
In fact, the stock exchange will trial the Disaster Recovery (DR) site through this trading session. Its purpose is to continue business without any interruption in adverse conditions. If you understand in simple language, in case of any cyber attack, server crash or other adverse circumstances, trading can be done on Disaster Recovery (DR) site. This will maintain stability in the market and investors.

What the circular says
NSE has also issued a circular in this regard. Detailed information about the trading session is given in NSE circulars. It said a special live trading session will be conducted in the equity and equity derivatives segment on January 20 with an intra-day switch from the primary site to the disaster recovery site.

According to the circular, there will be a pre-open session from 9:00 AM to 9:08 AM on this day. After this the general market will open at 9:15 am and close at 10:00 am. Trading will take place on the primary website during this period.
Another session at the DR site
Whereas, another special live trading session will take place on the DR site. In this second special live session, the pre-open session will start at 11:15 am and will end at 11:30 am. The general market will open at 11:30 AM and close at 12:30 PM. Whereas, the concluding session will be from 12:40 PM to 12:50 PM.
