Surya was awarded the player of the match for the 13th time in T20 international cricket. Meanwhile, he broke Rohit Sharma’s record. Surya is the second Indian in this matter
Suryakumar Yadav is the second Indian to win the award while making his captaincy debut in T20 international cricket. Earlier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah achieved this feat. Bumrah was made the captain on the tour of Ireland this year where he bowled brilliantly. Surya also became the Indian player who played the best innings in the debut match as the captain. Earlier this record was held by KL Rahul who played an innings of 62 runs against Afghanistan.

Suryakumar Yadav also batted at number three or below to complete a six-run century. He is the third player overall and second among Indians to achieve this feat. Before Suryakumar, the former captain of Team India Virat Kohli achieved this feat. Team India chased the biggest run in T20 international cricket under the captaincy of Surya.
