Washington: Iran-backed Houthi rebels targeted another oil tanker in the Red Sea on Sunday morning. An Indian-flagged crude oil tanker in the Red Sea was attacked by drones fired by Houthi militants, the US military said on Sunday.
Ace Central Command said on Twitter that the Gabonese-owned tanker MV Saibaba reported no casualties, but an emergency call was sent to a US warship in the area. The attack comes a day after another attack on a tanker off the Indian coast, which the US blamed on Iran.

According to media reports, at around 8 am (Sana time), the US Army received news of an attack on two ships in the southern Red Sea. The US military said one of them, the Norwegian-flagged and owned chemical tanker M/V Blamenen, reported that a drone fired by the Houthis passed too close to them. At the same time, the ship which was attacked by drones is M/V Saibaba.
The incidents mark the 14th and 15th attacks on commercial shipping by Houthi militants since October 17. The latest attack comes a day after Iran launched a targeted drone attack on a Japanese-owned chemical tanker off the Indian coast on Saturday. However, Iran has denied these accusations of America.
Last month, a suspected drone strike by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hit an Israeli-owned cargo ship in the Indian Ocean. According to Embrey, the Malta-flagged ship, operated by an Israeli-affiliated company, was damaged when an unmanned aerial vehicle exploded near it.
