Bishkek: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday met Kyrgyzstan President Sadir Zhaparov and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in banking, defense and energy sectors. Earlier, Jaishankar received a warm welcome when he arrived here on Wednesday on a two-day visit to Kyrgyzstan. Meanwhile, Jaishankar will meet the leadership of Kyrgyzstan and participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

Jaishankar posted on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), “Delighted to meet President of Kyrgyzstan Sadir Zhaparov. Received personal greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Discussed cooperation in banking, energy, health and pharma, defence, agriculture and investment. Kari Jaishankar expressed India’s support to Kyrgyzstan for its successful chairmanship of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of the SCO member states.
Kyrgyzstan is hosting the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of the SCO member states as the current chair of the group. Jaishankar also met his Kyrgyz counterpart Jeanbek Kulubev and discussed several issues with him. He wrote on ‘X’, ‘Good to see my old friend Foreign Minister Jeanbek Kulubev in Bishkek. Talked about strengthening India-Kyrgyzstan cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, development projects, health and education. Also exchanged views on Afghanistan, West Asia and connectivity.
Jaishankar will represent Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the SCO Heads of Government meeting. “We look forward to meaningful exchanges in the SCO, meeting the leadership of Kyrgyzstan and advancing our bilateral agenda,” he said. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also attended the SCO meeting held in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek. There is hope. to join, to attend.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar will also meet his counterparts from other SCO member states as well as the top leadership of Kyrgyzstan. The SCO group includes China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Established in Shanghai in June 2001, the SCO is an intergovernmental organization.
