India has always been a Hindu nation, it doesn’t have to: RSS leader Dattatreya Hosable

Hosable said, “India is already a Hindu nation and will remain so in the future. Dr. Hedgewar (founder of RSS) once said that as long as there are Hindus in the country, the country is a Hindu nation. The Constitution deals with politics, which is a different matter. India as a nation was, is and will remain a Hindu nation.

“When will India become a Hindu nation?” Answering that question, he said that it is ‘Hindutva’ to think about the unity of the country and to spare some time for the betterment of the society.

He said, “RSS works to make people feel that India is a Hindu nation. Thus, there is no need to create a Hindu nation because India is already like that. This RSS believes.

The RSS General Secretary (Government) claimed that one of the main challenges facing the country was to divide it on the basis of ‘North versus South’.

He said, “Some people now say that South India is separate from North India. A conspiracy is being hatched at the political and intellectual level to separate the South (from the rest of India) by claiming that they are Dravidians and that their language is also different. People should come forward to oppose this and ensure that such people do not succeed.

Hosable said that as RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat mentioned in his speech on Vijayadashami last month, “cultural Marxism and the behavior and attitude of people sensitive to social and political injustice” is another challenge facing the country.

He said that before the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, RSS workers will conduct a nationwide campaign from January 1 to January 15, under which they will go door-to-door and invite the people of the country there on the occasion.

He said that in the RSS meeting here, the exodus of Hindus from the border villages, including the villages of the Kutch district bordering Pakistan, was also discussed.

He said, “We discussed development and security in border villages. People are migrating elsewhere due to lack of facilities in these villages. There have also been conversions. We are investigating these issues. The presence of patriotic people near the border is important for the security of the country.

On the issue of ‘Love Jihad’, the RSS leader said that the issue has two aspects – making people aware and fighting a legal battle. He said the RSS was also working on rehabilitation of women who had freed themselves from such relationships but were not accepted by their families.

Right-wing Hindu organizations used the term ‘love jihad’ to claim that Hindu women were being converted into Muslims through inter-faith marriages.

Hosable said that during the RSS meeting, the invited members reviewed the progress of the Sangh’s expansion plans, as the Sangh aims to open branches in all 59,060 mandals in the country before its centenary celebrations in 2025. At present, it has 95,000 branches in about 38,000 congregations.

According to Hosable, 357 union leaders from across the country participated in the meeting.
