Lt Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena has approved the recruitment of Home Guards. 10,285 Home Guards will be recruited in Delhi. This information has been given by the Lieutenant Governor’s office after a review meeting of Home Guard Enrollment in Delhi today. The Lt. Governor has directed that during selection for recruitment, preference should be given to Civil Defense Volunteers through extra credit. The Lt. Governor also said that the selection should be completed by March 2024, earlier the deadline was set for June 2024.

After recruitment, those selected under Home Guard will get Rs 25,000 per month. Civil Defense Volunteers will be awarded 10 bonus points during the selection process.
Earlier, a maximum of 60 years of age could be recruited as a home guard, but now it has been reduced to a maximum of 45 years. Earlier it was mandatory to have at least 10th pass, but now it will be mandatory to have at least 12th pass. Similar educational qualification is also mandatory for constable post in Delhi Police.
Transparency will be maintained in the recruitment process
15 teams have been formed for the selection of home guards, which will also include senior officials from the district administration, Delhi Police and the Central Armed Police Force. To maintain transparency in the selection process, the entire process will be videographed by CCTV cameras.
Recruitment exam in February next year, result in March
Recruitment advertisement will be released soon. Physical measurement and efficiency test will take place in the first week of February next year. After this, the computer based entrance test and then the result will be declared in March 2024.
The Civil Defense Volunteers were withdrawn on 31 October
On October 31, 10,792 Delhi Civil Defense Volunteers were removed saying that the method of their appointment was wrong and the work they were being asked to do could not be done as per the rules. Most of the Civil Defense volunteers worked as bus marshals in Delhi buses.
The Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister agreed on this matter
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal both agreed that these Civil Defense volunteers should be deployed as home guards, so that their livelihoods are not at risk and they can also benefit from their experience.
